1969 was a pivotal year, for the world. The Beatles broke up. The Rolling Stones had the biggest tour ever, attempted a free concert to thank america, but Altamont occured. Vietnam escalated, peace and love didnt conquer all. In its bicentenial, we can look back and marvel at the music that moved us, and take "note" that Paul, Ringo, and the Stones are top draw, much loved, and far from losing popularity, TODAY.
The White Album Ensemble has been performing Beatles recordings made since their touring stopped in 1966, incidentally in San Francisco, the closest metropolis to Santa Cruz, where WAE is centered. They have set attendence records at the largest theatres and venues here, and in the immediate area.
WAE began in 2003, this is the 16th annual "White Christmas" weekend concert.
Special guests, the Beggar Kings have pursued a similar path, performing Classic Rolling Stones era music, but The Stones still tour, so a quick look at what they perform is much like the ate 60s- early 70s classics the BKs offer.
Its a virtual "Stones open for Beatles" Concert!
